Gillette Razors | All about gillette razors

We take for granted our grooming routine which includes shaving, and the ease of use that modern day Gillette razors brings to this.

History of Gillette Razors

Have you ever wondered how the Gillette razor in your hand came to be? While the Gillette razor looks very simple it is a product of literally hundreds of years of innovation in the act of shaving, so the simple piece of plastic has quite an interesting history. When we think of razors the Gillette company comes to mind as the pioneer of this necessary tool. Back in the early 20th century King C. Gillette developed the first disposable Gillette Razors.

This was an important development since many people were using something called a safety razor, which was safer than the traditional straight razor where a person could seriously hurt themselves. The safety razor was a razor that had two pieces of steel on parallel sides, and the reason this was safe is that while the blade could still shave closely, a slip of the blade could not seriously hurt the person.

Disposable Gillette Razors

The inherent issue with the safety razor was the blade inside of it needed constant sharpening and cleaning. Many people found this troublesome however they did not have any suitable alternatives. To the benefit of all us, King C. Gillette was able to produce disposable gillette razors that we could use once or twice and then throw it away. The blade in this gillette razor was sharp and could be thrown away easily.

Gillette was a very clever man and when the world wars came upon all of us, soldiers were deployed overseas. The military had an issue as to how to give their troops a razor they could use to keep groomed while at the same time easy to maintain since sharpening their razors would not be an option in the trenches.

Gillette and the U.S. Military worked out a deal where the troops would be supplied with disposable Gillette razors. This was a massive opportunity for the Gillette company since millions of troops were stationed overseas and needed to shave daily. The demand was nearly insatiable however when the war ended the story of Gillette razors was only really beginning.

An entire generation of young soldiers returned home and still needed to shave everyday. They were fond and loyal to the disposable Gillette razors and how well these disposable Gillette razors had performed in the field. The age of the disposable Gillette razors dominance had begun. This was the beginning of a trend that continues to this day where father to son shared their shaving expertise with one another and became loyal to the Gillette razors brand.

Gillette, not one to rest on their laurels, began developing a new line of gillette razors that included gillette razors with multiple blades. Since one razor could only do so much Gillette introduced razors with multiple blades – the more notable one from recent generations include the Mach 3 Gillette razors with 3 blades, and now the Fusion, with 5 blades, which provides gillette razors with a degree of effectiveness that other razors simply do not have.
